UPDATE: Hadley Mall Fire Final Report

It's been over a month since the disastrous "Wrath of Allah" fire destroyed the Rt 9 Hadley Mall.

Media silence? Although all the facts are in, NO followups about the investigation or cause of the fire have been released, and the media is doing everything it can to make people "believe" it started in the laundromat.

Here are the final facts according to reports of owners and witnesses.

Two (2) patrons of the laundromat noticed "smoke and an orange glow" in the ceiling on the south side of the laundromat, where it adjoins the Casablanca Halal Market, and called in the alarm at 7:41 PM Oct. 27, 2013.

There were no other patrons in the laundromat!

The first fire department arrived quickly from less than a mile away but were unable to quench the "Wrath of Allah" as it consumed the "quick-lighting long-burning charcoals" stored on the shelves of the Casablanca Halal Market, burst through the front window, and destroyed the rest of the mall.

They "focused" the high pressure hose on the rear of the Casablanca Halal Market, where it adjoins the laundromat - so they told the media they "focused on the laundromat."

Focus on the laundromat behind the Casablanca Halal Market

The occupant of the 2nd apartment has not been identified. It may have been rented by Oulbeid and Keffas, owners of the Casablanca Halal Market, to store additional charcoal or other flammables.

What a mess!
Fire Investigation? Arson? Negligence?
Criminal charges? Storage of unlicensed hazardous materials?
Insurance? Liability?

Hadley Police Chief Dennis Hukowicz on sick leave; officials to name acting chief
Nov. 27, 2013 - a month after the "Wrath of Allah," Dennis Huckowicz, the Hadley Chief of Police for 38 years has taken a very unusual "leave of absence."

I don't want nothin' to do with it
Select Board Chairman Daniel J. Dudkiewicz told the Gazette earlier in the week that the police chief is on sick leave “for a while.”

Town officials declined to say when Hukowicz went on leave or the nature of his illness. “We don't know if or when he'll ever be back on the job,” Dudkiewicz said.

Progression of MEDIA REPORTS - "believe it or not"

1. Investigators are focusing on the laundromat.  (of course, it's where the first witnesses called it in from)
2. Investigators are looking for other laundromat patrons.   (why?)
3. Investigators "believe" it started in the laundromat.  (what investigators?)
4. It is believed the fire started in the laundromat.  (by retarded reporters and their readers)

Focus on the laundromat.
Look at the laundromat.
We believe it started in the laundromat.
You believe it started in the laundromat.

Nov. 25, 2013 - Hadley Fire Victims to receive State Assistance

(Hadley, MA) – The victims of the recent Hadley strip mall fire may be about to get some help from the federal government. Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has asked the U.S. Small Business Administration for a “declaration of economic injury” which will allow those displaced businesses to qualify for low interest rebuilding loans.
A dozen businesses and two apartments were destroyed by the fast-moving fire, which is believed to have started in a machine in a laundromat at the rear of the facility.

For real?  Who believes that?
